FNB is currently looking for an experienced Senior Compliance Project Manager to join their team in Johannesburg. This role is positioned within a high-stakes environment, requiring a professional who can bridge the gap between complex regulatory demands and seamless project delivery. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the bank’s payment systems remain compliant with national and international standards while maintaining operational efficiency.

You will be responsible for orchestrating people, processes, and systems to drive business change, ensuring that every project is delivered within defined budgetary, time, and scope constraints.

In this capacity, you will not only be overseeing general project health but also acting as a subject matter expert in the compliance and payments landscape. The role requires a candidate who can confidently navigate the evolving regulatory frameworks dictated by industry giants and governing bodies, ensuring that all FNB processes are audit-ready and aligned with risk management protocols.

The core of this position involves leading teams through the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) while balancing multiple project streams. Your daily responsibilities will include:

• Initiating project planning by clearly defining objectives, scoping requirements, and mapping out the necessary resources.
• Providing hands-on management of project budgets, procurement, and cross-functional teams to meet high-level business goals.
• Overseeing specific compliance programmes related to payments, including conducting thorough risk assessments and monitoring acquiring compliance activities.
• Acting as an advisor on regulatory changes impacting the business, specifically concerning Visa, Mastercard, UPI, PASA, and SARB requirements.
• Leading project teams through both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, ensuring that governance standards are upheld throughout every project phase.
• Managing conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment to ensure the consistent delivery of quality results.

What they're looking for

To succeed in this role, you must bring a proven track record of project leadership within the banking or financial services industry. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the payments ecosystem and a strong grasp of compliance-driven project delivery.

• A formal project management qualification is essential, such as PMP, CAPM, or an equivalent certification.
• At least 5 years of professional experience managing medium to complex projects that impact multiple systems and stakeholders.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of direct experience operating within both Agile and Waterfall project environments.
• Specialised experience in Compliance and Payments is a prerequisite for this role.
• Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to motivate cross-functional teams and manage internal stakeholders at various levels of the organisation.
