This is a critical role that will shape how the organisation manages customer payments, collections, and recoveries, aiming to optimise performance while mitigating risk and ensuring a positive customer experience. The incumbent will be instrumental in developing and implementing cutting-edge strategies that ensure the home loans portfolio remains healthy and contributes positively to the company's financial objectives.
About the Role
At its core, this position involves the strategic management of all facets of collections risk within the home loans division. You will be responsible for conceptualising, building, and diligently monitoring strategies designed to maximise collections and recoveries. A key outcome will be ensuring these strategies consistently meet or exceed the set impairment rate targets, all while staying firmly within the defined risk appetite of the organisation. This requires a forward-thinking approach, leveraging advanced predictive techniques and modelling to maintain a competitive edge and foster sustained advantage in a dynamic market.
You will also play a vital role in optimising existing processes. This includes reviewing and refining forbearance strategies to ensure that while customer rehabilitation is supported, the maximum possible recoveries are achieved. Furthermore, you will contribute to the design and effectiveness of incentive programmes for both internal collections teams and external debt collectors, ensuring they are motivated to meet and exceed budgeted targets. The role also encompasses shaping strategies for payment solutions across various channels, such as DebiCheck and RMS, to enhance instalment collection performance.

- Influence the strategy and design of payment solutions across different types to improve instalment collection performance.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for end-to-end credit collections strategies.

- Foster a collaborative and effective working relationship with Operations and Technology teams.
- Secure buy-in and support from key departments, including Risk, MI, Business, Finance, and HR, for the successful execution of collections programmes.
- Engage with business unit and management committee meetings to ensure a shared understanding of risk analytics and decision-making methodologies.
- Support business units in achieving impairment and loan loss rate targets through proactive analysis and guidance.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, including Group Risk and IT, to gain support for strategy implementation.
