Job Description
Liberty, a prominent financial services provider, is seeking an experienced finance professional to take on the crucial role of Manager, Finance Statutory & Regulatory Reporting. This position is integral to supporting the strategic objectives of the insurance division by ensuring a high-quality support function and effective communication channels. The successful candidate will play a key part in developing, implementing, and enforcing finance initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable long-term profitability.
About the role
This managerial position involves leading teams of operations support staff, ensuring they deliver consistent, high-quality service. A significant aspect of the role is providing critical end-user support for insurance systems. This includes developing and refining processes to minimise the impact of legislative changes from a systems perspective. Furthermore, the role demands coordination of logistical, administrative, and operational support, demonstrating a practical and organised approach to team management and departmental functions.
Key Responsibilities
The Manager, Finance Statutory & Regulatory Reporting will be responsible for a range of key financial activities. This includes:
- Overseeing the preparation and submission of financial statements and regulatory returns.
- Supporting the build and maintenance of systems related to IFRS 17, a critical accounting standard for insurance entities.
- Coordinating and supporting external audits, ensuring all requirements are met efficiently.
- Collaborating on the development and enhancement of support systems, focusing on data accuracy and process automation.
- Driving initiatives for continuous improvement within financial processes and operations.
- Managing various aspects of investment management, cash flow, and the maintenance and upgrading of financial systems.
- Creating and upholding robust accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Contributing to tax management, group reporting, and managing aspects of investor relations, such as dividend policy and capital budgeting.
- Engaging in the financial management of reinsurance activities.
- Participating in broader finance and operations management, contributing to the overall financial health and strategic direction of the insurance division.
What they're looking for
Ideal candidates will possess a newly qualified CA(SA) designation. While direct experience within the insurance sector is not strictly mandatory, it will be considered a significant advantage. The role requires a strong understanding of financial statements and regulatory returns. Experience with IFRS 17 implementation and maintenance is highly desirable. The ability to lead external audits and support systems development is essential. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in data analysis and automation, with a commitment to continuous improvement. A solid understanding of investment management, cash flow, and financial system upkeep is necessary. Furthermore, the ability to establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls is crucial. Experience in tax, group reporting, and managing investor relations (including dividend policy and capital budgeting) would be beneficial. Familiarity with reinsurance finance and overall finance and operations management principles is also important. Behaviourally, candidates should exhibit adaptability, a willingness to challenge existing ideas, a meticulous approach to detail, strategic thinking, strong analytical skills, and the ability to make sound decisions while providing insightful perspectives to achieve objectives and uphold high standards.
