About the Role

This is a client-facing position where you will play a pivotal role in architecting and implementing sophisticated Cluster, container, automation, and CI/CD solutions tailored to client needs. You will be instrumental in coordinating various stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of these complex projects. It's a role that demands a deep understanding of modern cloud-native infrastructure and a proactive approach to problem-solving, requiring you to think through and validate requirements thoroughly.

The Senior System Engineer will be responsible for a range of critical tasks, including:

• Designing and optimising cluster solutions and container platforms, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and efficient.
• Undertaking and standardising advanced maintenance tasks to ensure the continuous operation and reliability of client systems.
• Establishing and maintaining high standards for technical documentation, ensuring clarity and comprehensiveness.
• Providing technical coaching and long-term support to clients, fostering strong relationships and ensuring their success with the implemented solutions.
• Directly resolving escalations, identifying root causes, and optimising technical workflows to prevent future issues.
• Evaluating and contributing to the development of professional engineer assessment processes, ensuring the continued growth and expertise of the engineering team.

What They're Looking For

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a significant track record in system engineering, with the following key qualifications:

• A minimum of five to eight years of experience as a System Engineer, with a strong emphasis on cloud environments.
• In-depth knowledge and practical experience in containerisation and cloud technologies. This includes proficiency with platforms like Kubernetes, and cloud provider services such as EKS (AWS), AKS (Azure), OpenShift, and SUSE Rancher. Familiarity with Helm and Argo CD for package management and deployment is also essential.
• Strong skills in automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), utilising tools like Terraform (or OpenTofu) and Ansible to streamline provisioning and configuration.
• A solid understanding of security principles within cloud-native environments, including experience with tools like HashiCorp Vault (or OpenBao) and concepts related to DevSecOps.
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and GitOps methodologies, including experience with GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, and Argo CD for continuous integration and delivery.
• Excellent communication skills in both German and English, to at least a C1 level, are required to effectively engage with international clients and colleagues.
