About the Role

Adfinis AG, a globally operating IT services firm with a strong focus on open-source technologies, is seeking a skilled and motivated System Engineer to join their team. This role, operating at 80-100% capacity, offers the flexibility of remote work. You will be instrumental in delivering client projects centred around cluster, container, automation, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to digital transformation initiatives using cutting-edge open standards and technologies.

In this client-facing position, your primary responsibilities will involve the end-to-end implementation of sophisticated IT solutions. You will meticulously review project requirements, identifying and resolving any discrepancies to ensure smooth project execution. A key aspect of your work will be the design of cloud services, adhering strictly to established architectural guidelines.

Your duties will extend to the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of cloud platforms, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability. Clear and comprehensive documentation of features, services, and procedures is paramount, contributing to the team's collective knowledge base and future projects.

Furthermore, you will be directly engaged in client interactions, fostering strong relationships through clear communication and collaborative problem-solving. This includes analysing technical challenges, pinpointing their root causes, and implementing effective solutions. You will also play a vital role in mentoring and supporting junior engineers and new team members, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of learning and development.

What They're Looking For

To be successful in this role, Adfinis AG is looking for a candidate with a solid foundation and practical experience in system engineering, particularly within cloud environments. Ideally, you will possess between 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.

A strong command of containerisation and cloud technologies is essential. This includes hands-on experience with platforms such as Kubernetes, and specific managed services like Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), or SUSE Rancher. Familiarity with tooling like Helm and Argo CD for application deployment is also highly valued.

Proficiency in automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is critical, with experience in tools like Terraform (or its continuation, OpenTofu) and Ansible. In terms of security, knowledge of tools like Vault (or OpenBao) and an understanding of DevSecOps principles are expected. Experience with CI/CD and GitOps practices, including tools like GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, and Argo CD, will be a significant advantage.

Finally, the role requires strong communication skills in both German and English, with a proficiency level of C1. This ensures effective collaboration with a diverse international team and client base.
