Job Description

Branch Management in Groblersdal

Liberty, a prominent financial services organisation, is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented individual to assume the role of Branch Manager in Groblersdal. This leadership position is crucial for driving operational excellence and fostering sustainable profitability within the branch. The successful candidate will be tasked with cultivating a client-centric, high-performance culture, ensuring that all activities align with Liberty's overarching business objectives. This role demands a strategic thinker with a proven ability to inspire and direct a team, navigating the complexities of the financial services landscape.

The Role and Responsibilities

The core of this position revolves around the comprehensive management of the Groblersdal branch's operations. This encompasses overseeing all resources, including personnel, processes, and systems, to achieve consistent and profitable outcomes. A significant aspect of the role involves driving business growth through the adept recruitment, retention, and development of a diverse group of Financial Advisers. You will be responsible for ensuring that the company's strategic goals are effectively translated into actionable plans and executed by the advisory team.

Furthermore, the Branch Manager will play a vital role in upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance, adhering strictly to guidelines set by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) and ensuring the principles of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) are embedded in all client interactions. This includes maintaining a deep understanding of claims management, client acceptance processes, and the effective management of customer insights and value.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing all aspects of branch operations to achieve profitability targets and operational efficiency.
  • Developing and implementing strategies for the recruitment, retention, and performance management of Financial Advisers.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to all regulatory requirements and ethical conduct standards.
  • Fostering a client-focused environment that prioritises customer satisfaction and fair treatment.
  • Managing operational budgets and achieving financial objectives.
  • Driving business development and growth through effective sales and distribution strategies.
  • Providing guidance and support to the advisory team, promoting professional development.

What You'll Bring

To excel in this role, you will need a strong foundation in business management and a deep understanding of the financial services industry. A relevant first-degree qualification in fields such as Business Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or Marketing is essential. Furthermore, you must hold the necessary FAIS Representative certification.

Your experience should demonstrate a proven track record in sales and distribution management, with a particular emphasis on the recruitment, retention, and development of financial advisers. You should have substantial experience (7-10 years) within the insurance, financial services, or asset management sectors, including a minimum of 3-5 years in a management capacity, overseeing teams or significant operational functions.

A robust understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks, risk management principles, and excellent client service standards, especially TCF, within the South African financial services context is paramount. The ability to manage operational budgets and consistently meet financial targets is also a critical requirement. You should possess strong behavioural competencies, including the ability to challenge ideas, make sound decisions, direct and empower individuals, take action, and work effectively as part of a team.

In South Africa, a role of this nature typically requires a strong understanding of the local market dynamics and regulatory environment. Branch Managers in financial services often progress from advisory or sales leadership roles and can move into regional management or broader operational leadership positions within a financial institution. While specific remuneration figures vary widely based on the size and success of the branch, as well as the employer, leadership roles in this sector generally offer competitive salaries and performance-based incentives.
