The successful candidate will play a key role in driving sales growth while upholding exceptional service standards and adhering strictly to all regulatory and compliance requirements.
About the Role
As a Universal Banker, you will be a frontline representative, engaging with clients across various banking channels. Your primary responsibility will be to understand their financial needs, resolve queries, and offer appropriate banking products and services. This involves actively seeking out sales opportunities, promoting relevant offerings, and contributing to the branch's overall sales objectives. You will be instrumental in managing client accounts, from opening new ones to making amendments and facilitating transfers, all while ensuring full compliance with established procedures and regulatory frameworks such as KYC, POPIA, and FAIS.
A critical aspect of this position is the ability to assess and understand client financial profiles, including their income and expenditure, to make informed recommendations. You will also be responsible for educating clients on banking processes, the effective use of digital platforms, and their rights and obligations under the Code of Banking Practice. Maintaining meticulous records and contributing to a high-performance branch culture are also essential elements of this role, ensuring operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with clients both in the branch and through other banking channels to understand and address their financial requirements.
- Proactively identify and pursue sales opportunities, actively promoting banking products and services to achieve branch sales targets.
- Administer client accounts, including opening, modifying, transferring, and closing, in strict adherence to internal procedures and regulatory guidelines.
- Evaluate clients' financial situations to offer tailored solutions and recommendations.
- Educate clients on banking processes, digital tools, self-service options, and their consumer rights.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
What They're Looking For
Liberty is seeking candidates who possess a robust skill set encompassing both client interaction and technical banking knowledge. You should have a proven ability to connect with people, articulate complex information clearly, and adapt to evolving circumstances.
**Key Requirements:**
- A National Certificate or equivalent NQF Level 5 FAIS-aligned qualification in a relevant discipline such as banking, financial services, commerce, or sales.
- Demonstrated adherence to FAIS Fit and Proper criteria.
- Between 3 and 4 years of experience in branch banking, financial services, a contact centre sales role, or another client-facing sales position.
- A verifiable track record in sales, including experience in identifying client needs, proposing solutions, cross-selling, and meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Comprehensive understanding of banking products, client service protocols, account opening procedures, and client acceptance requirements.
- Experience operating within a regulated environment, with a strong emphasis on adhering to risk, compliance, KYC, POPIA, and FAIS regulations.
- Exceptional client engagement skills, including the ability to build rapport, ask pertinent questions, perform well under pressure, and deliver practical solutions.
