About the role

As a Senior Test Engineer at Ozow, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of their software products. This involves taking ownership of the testing lifecycle, from initial planning through to final execution. You'll be deeply involved in an agile development process, working closely with developers and other stakeholders to identify, document, and resolve any issues that may arise. Your responsibilities will span the full spectrum of software quality assurance, with a particular emphasis on both manual and automated testing strategies. Key duties include:

• Developing and implementing comprehensive test plans that align with project timelines and agile methodologies.
• Executing a variety of tests, including acceptance, regression, functional, and performance testing, to validate system integrity.
• Mapping detailed functional requirements to meticulously crafted test cases.
• Identifying opportunities to automate existing manual test processes, thereby enhancing efficiency and repeatability.
• Conducting load and performance testing to ascertain system scalability and stability under pressure.
• Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to address and resolve testing-related queries and contribute to application enhancements.
• Prioritising testing efforts based on risk assessment and business criticality.
• Creating and maintaining essential testing documentation, such as software test specifications, detailed test reports, and validation protocols for various testing levels, including unit, integration, and performance.
• Performing thorough reviews of project documentation, including requirements and specifications, to ensure clarity and to identify potential quality concerns early in the development cycle.
• Maintaining strict version control and configuration management practices for all testing assets.
• Designing and developing robust test scripts to cover a wide range of testing scenarios, including functional flows, regression suites, negative paths, error retests, and usability assessments.
• Providing valuable mentorship and guidance to junior members of the testing team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.

• A solid understanding of and practical experience with load and performance testing methodologies.
• A mandatory ISEB or ISTQB Foundation Level certification.
• A relevant tertiary qualification, such as a 3-year IT diploma or degree.
• The ability to lead and mentor, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
