Job Description

Liberty, a prominent name within the South African financial services landscape, is seeking a seasoned Integrated Marketing and Communication (IMC) Specialist to join their team in Johannesburg. This is a contract-based position designed for a strategic communicator who excels at blending traditional marketing principles with modern digital delivery. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the brand’s messaging remains consistent, compelling, and aligned with group standards across every touchpoint.

About the role

This position is fundamentally about orchestrating cohesive marketing efforts. You will be responsible for implementing high-impact campaigns that span various advertising, direct marketing, and digital channels. The objective is to maintain a unified brand voice that resonates with specific sectors and customer segments, all while driving innovation and fostering collaborative partnerships within the organisation.

Operating in a dynamic financial services environment, you will act as a bridge between the broader business strategy and the end consumer. You won't just be executing tasks; you will be expected to influence executive-level stakeholders, ensuring that marketing activities directly contribute to the firm's commercial goals and brand equity.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily contributions will involve balancing creative ideation with technical precision. You will be tasked with:

  • Developing and delivering comprehensive IMC strategies that align with the specific needs of the business unit.
  • Managing the end-to-end lifecycle of marketing campaigns, from initial planning and media mix selection to final performance analysis.
  • Utilising marketing automation, CRM systems, and analytics tools to refine campaign performance and improve customer engagement.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that all advertising, PR, and content marketing initiatives are integrated seamlessly.
  • Leveraging data insights to measure campaign success, ensuring that every project is backed by a clear, metric-driven rationale.
  • Overseeing budgets and managing agency partners to ensure deliverables remain on track and within scope.

What they're looking for

Liberty is looking for a professional who possesses both the intellectual rigour for high-level strategy and the practical experience to navigate digital marketing channels. Key requirements include:

  • A relevant first degree in Marketing, Business, or Commerce.
  • At least five years of experience in integrated marketing and brand management, specifically within the financial services sector.
  • Proven ability to engage with and influence senior leadership and executive teams.
  • Strong technical proficiency in digital channels, including social media, SEO, SEM, email marketing, and content strategy.
  • A data-driven mindset with the capability to interpret analytics and translate them into actionable business improvements.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Soft skills such as confidence in presentation, an appetite for innovation, and the ability to interpret complex information.

In the South African market, roles of this calibre within major financial institutions often serve as a gateway to senior brand management or marketing leadership positions. Specialists with this level of experience can typically expect a competitive market-related package, often ranging between R60,000 and R90,000 per month depending on the specific terms of the contract and the individual’s seniority. As this is a contract role, it offers an excellent opportunity for high-performing professionals to build their portfolio within a respected corporate environment while contributing to significant national brand campaigns. Candidates are reminded to remain vigilant; the recruitment process will never involve requests for payment.
