About the Opportunity
Liberty, a leading financial services provider, is seeking a driven and analytical Business Analyst to join their team in Roodepoort, Gauteng. This pivotal role is designed for an individual who thrives on translating complex business needs into tangible, value-driven solutions. You will be instrumental in driving innovation and optimising operations across the insurance business by identifying and implementing improvements in business capabilities, operating models, and technology-enabled initiatives.

You will act as a crucial link between business stakeholders, technology teams, and external partners, ensuring that every initiative aligns with strategic objectives and delivers measurable improvements.
Key Responsibilities
The core of this role involves leading the end-to-end process of discovering, analysing, designing, and implementing business solutions. Your responsibilities will span a broad spectrum, including:
- **Opportunity Identification**: Proactively partnering with business stakeholders to pinpoint areas for process optimisation, automation, and digital transformation.
- **Solution Design**: Translating strategic business objectives into practical, implementable solutions that enhance customer experience, boost operational efficiency, strengthen risk management, and improve financial performance.
- **Data-Driven Analysis**: Leveraging data, established business analysis methodologies, process improvement techniques, and cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accelerate analysis, inform decision-making, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- **Collaboration**: Working closely with business leaders, IT departments, and delivery partners to ensure successful project execution and the realisation of business benefits.
- **Capability Development**: Driving improvements in business capabilities and operating models, often through the implementation of technology-enabled solutions.
What They're Looking For
Liberty is seeking a candidate with a robust educational background and a significant amount of relevant experience. Essential qualifications include a relevant first degree in Business, Commerce, Information Technology, or a related field. Crucially, the ideal candidate will hold certifications such as CBAP or CCBA, a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and a process automation certification (e.g., Power Platform, UiPath, Automation Anywhere). Experience with AI-related business analysis or digital transformation certifications would be highly advantageous.
In terms of experience, a minimum of 5 to 7 years in Business Analysis is required, with at least 3 of those years specifically within the Financial Services or Insurance sectors. You should have a proven track record of successfully delivering medium to large-scale business transformation initiatives, spanning 5 to 7 years.
Key areas of expertise include:
- Business process modelling and optimisation.
- Developing compelling business cases and ensuring benefits realisation.
- Working proficiently within both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Effective engagement with vendors and third-party technology partners.
- Significant experience (5-7 years) supporting digital transformation, automation, or AI-enabled projects.
Furthermore, strong behavioural competencies such as learning agility, results orientation, attention to detail, excellent facilitation skills, and commercial acumen are essential for success in this dynamic environment. You will also need a solid grasp of technical competencies, including Business Process Improvement, Data Analysis, AI-enabled Business Analysis, understanding of Emerging Technologies, Process Automation, and Project Management principles. Familiarity with Value Stream Mapping is also a plus.
In South Africa, Business Analyst roles within established financial institutions like Liberty often offer competitive remuneration packages, typically ranging from R500,000 to R850,000 per annum, depending on experience and the specific complexities of the role. Career progression can lead to senior analyst positions, team lead roles, or specialisation in areas like digital transformation or data science.
Requirements
Type of Qualification: First Degree
Field of Study: Business, Commerce, Information Technology or related discipline.
Certification in:

Insurance Legacy & Enablement
