Job Description
Liberty is seeking a dedicated Training Specialist to join their team in Johannesburg. This pivotal role is designed to enhance the employee experience within Group Centres of Excellence (CoEs), designated business units, corporate functions, and various geographies. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate learning programmes that directly address identified needs, ensuring a skilled and adaptable workforce.
About the Role
The Specialist, Training will act as a crucial link between organisational learning requirements and their practical implementation. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across different business areas to gain a deep understanding of their unique learner needs. This involves not just identifying gaps but also interpreting current practices and anticipating future shifts within CoE domains.
Your contribution will be data-driven, providing pertinent insights that inform strategic decision-making within the CoEs. By translating these insights into concrete learning solutions, you will drive the development and delivery of programmes that are both effective and aligned with the overarching strategic initiatives of the business. The role demands a proactive approach to understanding and addressing the evolving demands of the workforce, ensuring that learning interventions are timely, relevant, and impactful.
Key Responsibilities
As a Training Specialist, your responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of learning and development activities. You will be instrumental in the end-to-end design and implementation of learning solutions, ensuring they are standardised where appropriate and tailored where necessary.
Key duties will include:
- Partnering with stakeholders to identify and define learning needs across various business units and CoEs.
- Interpreting organisational requirements and anticipating future trends in specific fields of expertise.
- Designing, developing, and facilitating comprehensive learning programmes.
- Leveraging data to provide actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Prioritising learning initiatives to ensure alignment with broader organisational goals and CoE objectives.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of learning interventions and making data-informed adjustments.
- Managing the entire lifecycle of learning programmes, from conception to delivery and evaluation.
- Fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the organisation.

To excel in this role, candidates will need a strong combination of behavioural and technical competencies, along with relevant experience. A Diploma in Social Sciences or a related field is desirable, providing a foundational understanding of human behaviour and organisational dynamics.

- 5-7 years of demonstrated workplace experience in learning and development, with a particular focus on People & Culture or similar specialisations.
