The Role of a Banking Advisor

As a Banking Advisor within RMB Private Bank, you will be instrumental in nurturing and expanding the bank's affluent client base. This pivotal role demands a proactive and insightful approach to client engagement, financial advisory, and business development. Your primary objective will be to deliver exceptional service and bespoke financial solutions that not only meet but exceed client expectations. Key Responsibilities

The Banking Advisor will undertake a range of duties to ensure the success of both the client relationships and the business objectives. These include:

  • **Client Relationship Management:** Developing, managing, and growing relationships with high-net-worth individuals. This involves identifying their needs, providing tailored advice, and ensuring their continued satisfaction with the bank's offerings.
  • **Financial Advisory:** Offering sound financial advice and recommendations, drawing upon up-to-date market information and an in-depth understanding of FNB's comprehensive suite of financial services.
  • **Business Development:** Proactively seeking opportunities to expand the client base by identifying and attracting creditworthy prospects. This also includes strategies for growing the active customer account base.
  • **Sales and Growth:** Achieving financial targets, contributing to profit growth through strategic sales initiatives, and ensuring the effective management of the client pipeline.
  • **Operational Excellence:** Maintaining efficient administrative services through meticulous planning, reporting, and upkeep of all relevant client information.
  • **Compliance:** Adhering strictly to all relevant statutory, legislative, policy, and governance requirements, as well as internal processes and procedures.
  • **Innovation and Improvement:** Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying more efficient and accurate ways of working, and championing innovative solutions.
  • **Collaboration:** Fostering positive working relationships within FNB and across the broader FirstRand Group to achieve shared objectives.
  • **Performance Management:** Continuously assessing personal performance, actively seeking feedback, and identifying areas for professional development and training.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates will need a solid educational foundation and relevant professional experience. Essential qualifications include:

  • A relevant degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in a sales or service-oriented role within the financial services sector.
  • FAIS accreditation, including the RE (Regulatory Examination), is highly preferred.

In accordance with the National Credit Act (NCA), all candidates applying for this position will undergo a credit record check. Candidates must not be existing unrehabilitated insolvents.

Qualifications and Experience                     

  • Relevant Degree in Finance or Economics or Accounting.
  • Preferred Qualification: FAIS accreditation required (RE).
  • 2 - 3 years’ experience within a Sales/Service area of a financial environment.
