About the Role

As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping the technological backbone of the company. You'll be working with a team of dedicated professionals, contributing to projects that drive innovation and enhance operational performance. The role demands a proactive approach to infrastructure management, with a focus on leveraging cloud services to their full potential. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the cloud environment, as well as contributing to long-term strategic planning and architectural decisions. This position offers the chance to work with a variety of cutting-edge cloud technologies and to make a tangible impact on the company's technological landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will encompass a broad range of critical infrastructure tasks. You will be tasked with:

  • Designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud infrastructure solutions, primarily on platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Implementing and managing infrastructure as code (IaC) principles using tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Configuring and managing containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Ensuring the security and compliance of the cloud environment through the implementation of best practices and robust security measures.
  • Monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimisations to ensure high availability and efficiency.
  • Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to streamline application deployment and management.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure-related issues promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Collaborating with development and operations teams to support application deployments and infrastructure requirements.
  • Documenting infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Staying abreast of emerging cloud technologies and recommending new solutions to improve the existing infrastructure.

What They're Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in cloud computing principles and hands-on experience with relevant technologies. A proactive and analytical mindset, coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities, is essential.

Key requirements include:

  • A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience in designing, building, and managing cloud infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Demonstrated experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • A solid understanding of networking concepts within a cloud environment.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • A strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Common employers include telecommunications companies, financial institutions, tech startups, and large enterprises undergoing digital transformation. Career progression typically involves specialisation in specific cloud platforms, architectural design, or leadership roles within DevOps or cloud engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 3+ years of software development experience.
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, or C#.
  • Strong understanding of web development technologies.
