For top achievers, this evaluation serves as a gateway to a permanent position within the bank, signalling the commencement of a promising and rewarding career in private banking and advisory services. This is an exceptional chance to launch your career within a leading financial institution.

The academy will operate from FNB’s three principal hubs: Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape. As such, successful applicants will be required to be based in one of these dynamic regions.

Beyond academic qualifications, FNB is looking for candidates who possess a genuine and compelling interest in client-facing roles within financial planning and wealth management. A proactive approach, excellent interpersonal skills, and a dedication to client service are paramount. This is an opportunity for driven individuals to make a significant impact in the realm of private banking.

It is important to note that this advertisement is for building a talent pool for future opportunities, rather than an immediately available vacancy. In South Africa, graduate programmes in banking, especially those focused on private banking and wealth management, are highly sought after. Trainee private bankers and financial advisors typically start on a learnership or graduate programme, with salaries often starting in the R15,000 to R25,000 per month range, depending on the institution and the specific programme structure. As individuals gain experience and move into more senior advisory roles, earning potential significantly increases, often through a combination of a base salary and performance-based bonuses or commissions. Major South African banks, including FNB, Standard Bank, Absa, and Nedbank, are prominent employers in this sector. Career progression typically involves moving from junior advisory roles to senior private banker positions, portfolio management, or team leadership within the wealth management divisions.
