Head CIB Coverage Compliance

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head: CIB Coverage Compliance to lead compliance advisory within Corporate & Investment Banking. This role operates as a key part of the second line of defense, providing independent oversight, guidance, and challenge to ensure effective management of compliance and reputational risk.

• Provide proactive, expert compliance advisory across CIB coverage and public sector businesses
• Guide stakeholders on conduct risk, regulatory requirements, and cross-border activities
• Act as a trusted advisor on new products, transactions, and strategic initiatives.
• Lead regulatory interpretation and communicate impacts to the business
• Identify, assess, and manage emerging regulatory and compliance risks
• Oversee compliance input into transaction approval committees and forums
• Ensure robust implementation of:
• Compliance risk management frameworks
• Regulatory universe and risk assessments
• Key risk indicators and control effectiveness monitoring.
• Support governance reporting and escalation of material risks and issues
• Act as a key interface with regulators (e.g. SARB, FSCA, FIC, Prudential Authority)
• Represent Compliance in internal and external governance forums
• Contribute to industry discussions and regulatory developments
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of compliance professionals
• Drive a strong culture of compliance and ethical conduct across CIB
• Deliver training and awareness programmes to embed compliance understanding.
• Drive compliance innovation initiatives and internal projects
• Enhance frameworks, processes, and systems to meet evolving regulatory demands
• Contribute to the development of forward-looking compliance strategies

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Risk, or related field
• LLB or postgraduate qualification advantageous.
• 8–10+ years’ experience in Compliance, Legal, or Risk within CIB
• Proven experience in:
• Investment banking products and services
• Regulatory advisory and interpretation
• Senior stakeholder engagement and leadership
• Experience engaging with regulators and managing complex compliance matters
