FNB, a prominent South African financial institution, is seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Financial Manager to join their Short-Term Insurance division based in Randburg. Key Responsibilities
As a Financial Manager at FNB, your primary responsibilities will revolve around providing crucial financial expertise, insights, and guidance to business stakeholders. You will be instrumental in designing and refining financial processes to ensure the efficient and value-driven delivery of financial services. A key aspect of your role will involve the accurate preparation, analysis, and allocation of costs across various products, business units, and cost centres. This is essential for robust financial reporting and informed decision-making.
Your duties will extend to actively supporting the budget preparation process, conducting monthly cost reporting, performing variance analysis, and contributing to forecasting activities, all aimed at effective cost management. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to enhance costing methodologies, improve data integrity, and proactively identify opportunities for cost savings.
A significant part of your remit will be the monthly reporting on the insurance portfolio's financial performance, including the preparation of flash reports and updates for senior leadership. You will gain valuable exposure to the broader budget process and play a part in preparing the budget presentation.
Furthermore, you will leverage financial systems such as Essbase and HFM to extract and analyse financial data. Your responsibilities will also include the approval of invoices pertaining to the short-term insurance entity. A crucial element of this role is partnering with stakeholders to offer financial insights that influence operational and general business decisions. Continuous self-assessment, seeking feedback, and identifying training needs will be encouraged, alongside actively participating in fostering a development-oriented culture by sharing knowledge and insights.
What They're Looking For
The ideal candidate for this Financial Manager position is a technically adept, fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)). While the company is open to considering candidates with varying levels of post-qualification experience, ideally, they are looking for individuals with 0-5 years of post-qualifying experience. Exceptional academic achievement, demonstrated from matriculation through to CTA, articles, and board exams, is a key indicator of the calibre of candidate they seek.
In terms of experience, a background in costing would be highly advantageous. Exposure to or understanding of IFRS17, as well as experience within the insurance sector, would also be beneficial. Familiarity with financial systems like Essbase and HFM is considered advantageous.
Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to articulate opinions clearly and effectively in both written and spoken English. You should possess excellent research capabilities and a meticulous approach to your work.
