About the Role
The MFC Area Manager will be instrumental in driving sales operations and optimising the support provided to the sales team. This leadership role demands a strategic mindset, focusing on the implementation and execution of sales strategies designed to maximise operational efficiency and effectiveness. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the sales force is equipped with the necessary resources and direction to achieve ambitious business goals and to provide exceptional service to clients. This involves not only overseeing day-to-day operations but also contributing to the broader organisational vision and values.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the MFC Area Manager are multifaceted, encompassing strategic planning, sales leadership, and client relationship management. Key duties include:
- **Strategic Direction and Leadership:** Communicating the sales function's strategy and its alignment with Old Mutual's mission, vision, and values. Motivating the team to achieve extraordinary results and contribute to the company's business objectives.
- **Sales Opportunity Development:** Cultivating a personal network of senior managers within the relevant business sectors and engaging with advisory and regulatory bodies. Representing Old Mutual at significant industry events to gather market intelligence, promote the organisation, and enhance its reputation.
- **Customer Proposition Sales:** Leading cross-functional teams to develop and present complex, high-value tailored product and service solutions to meet customer strategic goals. Negotiating agreements to ensure customer needs are met within acceptable commercial risk parameters, or authorising complex sales proposals.
- **Key Account Management and Business Development:** Managing a portfolio of complex customer relationships and/or a team of account managers to ensure quality service and profitable business growth. Developing and implementing relationship management plans for both existing strategic accounts and potential clients, fostering strong relationships at local and national levels.
- **Business and Financial Planning:** Developing and proposing annual business plans for the designated area, ensuring strategic alignment. Recommending financial and headcount budgets, setting performance targets, and scheduling key activities to integrate with the wider organisation.
- **Performance Management:** Monitoring and reporting on departmental performance, setting objectives for direct reports, and ensuring accountability. Implementing corrective actions where necessary to achieve annual business objectives.
- **Organisational Capability Building:** Evaluating staff capabilities, identifying development needs, and implementing organisational development frameworks. Coaching and mentoring team members to enhance the organisation's talent pool.
What They're Looking For
To excel in this role, candidates will need a strong foundation in financial services management, coupled with proven leadership and interpersonal skills. Essential qualifications and experience include:
- A Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
- FAIS Compliant.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of managerial experience.
- Knowledge and exposure to Group Schemes / RMM are advantageous for internal candidates.
- Successful completion of an MMDP (Management Development Programme) or a relevant tertiary qualification is essential.
- A Master's degree (NQF Level 9) is a requirement for this position.
