Job Description
Liberty is seeking a driven Business Manager to join the People & Culture (P&C) Strategy & Enablement team within its Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) division. This is a crucial role focused on translating strategic objectives into tangible outcomes by driving a variety of programmes, projects, and initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, including the Head of People & Culture for Products & Coverage and CIB South Africa, to ensure the effective implementation and ongoing success of P&C strategies.
About the Role
This position is integral to the operational efficiency and strategic execution of the P&C function within CIB. You will be responsible for supporting the implementation of governance standards, managing business performance against financial targets, and continuously seeking ways to enhance the team's operational effectiveness. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all initiatives align with the broader strategic goals of the organisation. You will play a key part in bridging the gap between strategic vision and daily operations, making this a dynamic and impactful position.
Key Responsibilities
The Business Manager will be instrumental in executing a range of P&C initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with leadership to implement strategic programmes and projects aimed at achieving defined business objectives and addressing delivery gaps.
- Supporting the establishment and maintenance of robust governance standards across P&C activities.
- Assisting in the management of business performance, with a focus on key financial measures and metrics.
- Identifying and implementing improvements to enhance the operational efficiency of the P&C team.
- Consolidating data from various product and corporate function sources to prepare comprehensive reporting and dashboards, thereby supporting informed decision-making.
- Developing and implementing tactical plans, projects, and initiatives to operationalise and embed the group's strategy across relevant business areas, ultimately improving operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Consolidating business performance measures to present a unified view of the overall health of the division, facilitating effective strategic decision-making.
- Providing guidance to stakeholders on risk management best practices, frameworks, and parameters to foster operational resilience within the function.
What They're Looking For
To excel in this role, candidates will need a strong foundation in business and project management, coupled with significant experience in the People & Culture domain. A tertiary qualification, such as a Degree in Business Commerce or Project Management, is a prerequisite.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Between 5 and 8 years of relevant experience, with a preference for a background in People & Culture.
- A demonstrable track record of successfully managing a diverse range of projects from inception to completion, achieving defined business objectives or metrics.
- Proven ability to drive, coordinate, and implement effective People & Culture solutions that support specific objectives and contribute to sustainable business performance.
- Experience in consolidating business performance measures to provide a holistic overview for decision-making.
- Prior experience advising stakeholders on risk management, including best practices, frameworks, and parameters to promote operational resilience.
- Experience working within a multinational environment, collaborating with diverse stakeholders across all organisational levels to drive execution and implementation of P&C strategies in complex settings.
- Strong capabilities in preparing consolidated reporting and dashboards from multiple data sources to support monitoring and decision-making processes.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing tactical plans and initiatives to embed group strategy and enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements
Minimum qualifications
Degree in Business Commerce / Project Management
Experience required
- 5- 8 years experience, preferably in People & Culture, with demonstrated experience managing broad range of projects to completion to achieve defined business objectives or metrics.
- Track record of successfully driving, co-ordinating and implementing effective People & Culture solutions in support of specific objectives & driving for a sustainable performance in the business.
- Prepare consolidated reporting / dashboard from product and corporate function data sources to support monitoring and decision making.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing tactical plans, projects and initiatives to operationalise or embed the Group strategy across products and/or enablement functions within the Business Area to improve effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
- Must have experience in consolidating business performance measures to report a consolidated view of the overall health of the area to enable effective decision making.
- Prior experience advising stakeholders on risk management best practices, frameworks and parameters to promote operational resilience across the function.
- Experience within a multinational company working with diverse stakeholder across all levels in driving execution and implementation of People & Culture in a complex environment.
