Job Description
This role presents a pivotal opportunity to join the Commercial Asset Finance (CAF) team within one of Africa’s premier financial services groups. Based in Gauteng, this position focuses on the intersection of strategic relationship management and the agricultural sector, aiming to drive business growth through robust third-party partnerships.
About the role
The successful candidate will serve as the engine behind the company’s agricultural finance strategy. The objective is to identify, cultivate, and manage strategic relationships with external suppliers and partners to unlock new business avenues and increase the penetration of financial products within the agricultural market.
By developing comprehensive sector value propositions and internal product documentation, you will equip provincial teams with the tools and insights necessary to seize market opportunities. You will act as a bridge between the bank’s financial solutions and the practical needs of the agricultural industry, ensuring that the organisation remains a competitive force in the South African asset finance landscape.
What you’ll do
The core of this position involves leveraging your influence to ensure that commercial strategies are executed effectively across the board. Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining high-level relationships with third-party suppliers to foster business origination.
- Driving the adoption of sector-specific value propositions to ensure consistent growth in market share.
- Providing strategic guidance and support to provincial sales teams to maximise their effectiveness.
- Analysing market trends and internal product papers to maintain an edge over competitors.
- Overseeing the risk profile of third-party partnerships, ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory standards.
- Collaborating with cross-functional departments to ensure that financial products align with the unique requirements of agricultural businesses.
What they’re looking for
The organisation is seeking a professional with a strong blend of business acumen and relationship management expertise. You should possess:
- **Educational Background:** A completed first degree in Business or Commerce.
- **Experience:** A minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience, particularly in business solutions and commercial banking.
- **Sector Expertise:** Proven track record in managing alliances, joint ventures, and third-party relationships, specifically within the asset finance environment.
- **Influence:** Demonstrated ability to drive sales teams and influence stakeholders across various levels of a corporate hierarchy.
- **Technical Proficiency:** A solid understanding of the financial regulatory framework, brand management, and business analysis within a banking environment.
- **Soft Skills:** Excellence in articulating complex information, challenging status-quo ideas, and building strong professional rapport.
As an agricultural asset finance expert, you are entering a space that sits at the heart of South Africa’s economic productivity. Roles of this nature within major financial institutions often command senior-level compensation packages commensurate with the strategic impact of the position. Typical career paths for individuals in this field often lead to more senior executive roles in commercial banking, corporate strategy, or specialised business development within the broader financial sector. Applicants should always remain vigilant during the recruitment process and remember that reputable institutions will never request payment as a condition of employment.
