Job Description

Takealot Group, a prominent name in South African e-commerce, is actively seeking a dedicated Learning and Development Practitioner to join their team in Cape Town. This crucial role sits within the L&D department, reporting directly to the Head of Learning and Development, and is instrumental in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and skill enhancement across the organisation. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of designing, developing, and implementing impactful learning initiatives, ensuring Takealot's workforce remains agile and equipped for future challenges.

About the Role

The Learning and Development Practitioner will be a key player in shaping the employee learning journey at Takealot. This position requires a proactive individual who can take ownership of the entire lifecycle of learning programmes, from initial conception to final evaluation. A significant emphasis will be placed on the practical delivery of training, creating engaging learning experiences that resonate with a diverse workforce. The role demands a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, ensuring that learning interventions are not only effective but also directly contribute to the organisation's broader business objectives. This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the professional growth of individuals within one of South Africa's most dynamic online retail environments.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a Learning and Development Practitioner will be multifaceted, encompassing a range of activities designed to elevate the skills and knowledge of Takealot employees. You will be tasked with:

  • **Designing and Developing Learning Solutions:** Creating innovative training programmes, curricula, and materials that are specifically tailored to meet the evolving needs of the business. This includes leveraging a variety of learning methodologies to ensure maximum engagement and knowledge retention.
  • **Facilitating Learning Experiences:** Delivering dynamic training sessions, whether through virtual platforms, in-person workshops, or blended learning approaches. You will foster an inclusive and interactive environment where learners feel empowered to participate and grow.
  • **Conducting Needs Analysis:** Undertaking thorough assessments to identify training needs and skills gaps across different departments. This data-driven approach will inform the development of targeted and effective learning interventions.
  • **Managing L&D Projects:** Overseeing the end-to-end project management of key learning and development initiatives, ensuring that all milestones and deliverables are met within defined timelines.
  • **Supporting Talent Development:** Designing, implementing, and managing programmes for interns and graduates, including providing mentorship and coaching to support their transition and development within the company.
  • **Collaborating with Stakeholders:** Working closely with Human Resources, leadership teams, and various business units to ensure that all learning initiatives are aligned with strategic organisational goals.
  • **Measuring Impact:** Evaluating the effectiveness of training programmes and measuring their return on investment (ROI) and overall impact on the business.
  • **Maintaining Records:** Ensuring accurate record-keeping and the integrity of data within the organisation's Learning Management System (LMS).

What They're Looking For

Takealot Group is seeking a candidate with a strong foundation in learning and development principles and a passion for fostering talent. Essential qualifications and experience include:

  • A minimum of three to five years of progressive experience in Learning and Development, with a focus on training delivery, instructional design, or a similar capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering engaging training sessions across various modalities, including virtual, hybrid, and face-to-face formats.
