About the Role

As a People Practitioner, you will serve as a key point of contact for line managers, providing comprehensive support across a broad spectrum of HR functions. Your primary responsibility will be to offer proactive advice and coaching, guiding managers through various HR processes and ensuring alignment with organisational policies and labour legislation. This is a generalist position requiring a hands-on approach to various employee lifecycle activities, from initial talent attraction through to managing employee exits.

The People Practitioner will be instrumental in supporting and advising line managers on a wide range of HR matters. This includes:

• Providing expert guidance and coaching to line managers on all aspects of HR service delivery.
• Assisting with talent sourcing initiatives and identifying high-potential individuals for the organisation.
• Supporting the recruitment and selection process, from drafting job posts to coordinating interview schedules.
• Taking full ownership of the employee onboarding experience, ensuring a smooth and welcoming transition for new hires.
• Advising and supporting line managers in managing industrial relations incidents effectively.
• Driving initiatives related to absenteeism management and case management.
• Supporting all employee relations processes to foster a positive and productive work environment.
• Addressing day-to-day HR queries from internal customers.
• Managing the employee resignation process with professionalism and efficiency.
• Compiling weekly HR reports and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data across all HR systems.
• Coordinating employee engagement interventions to enhance workplace morale and satisfaction.
• Gathering data for skills reporting and development planning.
• Taking ownership of ad hoc HR projects as required, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach.

To excel in this role, candidates will need a solid foundation in human resources principles and practical experience. Essential qualifications and experience include:

• A relevant degree in Human Resources or a related field.
• A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in a generalist HR capacity.
• Proficiency in using HR databases and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
• Demonstrated theoretical knowledge of relevant South African labour legislation and HR policies.
• Proven experience in handling industrial relations matters.
• A strong understanding of labour law principles.
• Established project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting, as well as strong presentation abilities.
