Job Description
Job Vault is pleased to present an opportunity for an experienced Product Manager to join Luno, a prominent global cryptocurrency company with a significant presence in South Africa. This role, based in either Cape Town or Johannesburg, focuses on developing and enhancing Luno's offerings within the institutional API and digital asset accounts space. Luno is dedicated to empowering individuals and businesses with the tools needed to navigate and manage their finances in the evolving digital asset landscape.
About the Role
As a Product Manager at Luno, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of their institutional-grade products. This position demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of product development lifecycles, particularly within the fintech and cryptocurrency sectors. You will be at the forefront of defining the product vision, translating complex market needs into actionable roadmaps, and ensuring the seamless delivery of innovative solutions. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying market opportunities, understanding customer pain points, and driving product initiatives from conception through to launch and ongoing iteration.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibility will be to define and articulate the product vision and strategic roadmap for Luno's institutional API and digital asset account offerings. This involves:
- **Strategic Planning:** Developing and maintaining a clear product strategy that aligns with Luno's overall business objectives and market demands.
- **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Working closely with engineering, design, marketing, legal, and compliance teams to ensure successful product development and launch. You will act as a crucial liaison, translating business needs into technical requirements and vice versa.
- **Market and User Research:** Conducting thorough market research and user analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and unmet customer needs. This data will be vital in informing product decisions and prioritisation.
- **Product Lifecycle Management:** Overseeing the entire product lifecycle, from initial ideation and requirements gathering to development, testing, launch, and post-launch optimisation.
- **Performance Analysis:** Monitoring product performance through key metrics and data analysis. You will use these insights to identify areas for improvement and drive iterative enhancements to existing features and new product developments.
- **Stakeholder Communication:** Effectively communicating product plans, progress, and results to internal stakeholders at all levels.
What They're Looking For
Luno is seeking a seasoned Product Manager with a proven track record of success. Essential qualifications and experience include:
- A minimum of three years of experience in a Product Management role.
- Demonstrated experience with API products or platform-centric products, understanding the intricacies of building scalable and robust technical solutions.
- A background in fintech, cryptocurrency, or B2B infrastructure is highly desirable, indicating an understanding of the specific challenges and opportunities within these sectors.
- Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable product strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, essential for working effectively within a dynamic, cross-functional team environment.
- The ability to think strategically while also possessing a keen eye for detail in execution.
In South Africa, Product Manager roles in the fintech and digital asset space can be highly rewarding, with compensation often reflecting the specialized skills and experience required. Luno, as a leading player, is likely to offer competitive remuneration. Career progression often involves moving into more senior product leadership roles or specialisation within specific product domains. This role offers a significant opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing and innovative company at the forefront of the digital economy.
Requirements
- 3+ years experience as a Product Manager.
- Experience with API or platform products.
- Background in fintech, crypto, or B2B infrastructure.
