Job Description
The Takealot Group is seeking a strategic and visionary leader to spearhead its subscription loyalty programme, TakealotMORE. This pivotal role will be instrumental in shaping the future of customer engagement and retention across Takealot's diverse platforms. The Group Head of TakealotMORE will be tasked with establishing a clear strategic direction, fostering significant growth, and ensuring the operational excellence of this key customer loyalty initiative. Success in this position hinges on the ability to seamlessly integrate loyalty efforts with overarching customer, marketing, and business objectives, utilising data-driven insights to elevate the customer experience, maximise value delivery, and guarantee the long-term viability of the programme.
About the Role
This is a high-impact position that requires a comprehensive understanding of loyalty programmes, customer behaviour, and the e-commerce landscape. The Group Head will own the long-term vision for TakealotMORE, continuously seeking innovative features, strategic partnerships, and compelling member benefits to cultivate deep customer loyalty and enhance lifetime value. A primary focus will be on driving subscription growth, not only by attracting new members but also by significantly improving retention rates, increasing purchase frequency among existing members, and encouraging cross-platform engagement. This involves meticulously curating and optimising the benefits and offerings associated with TakealotMORE to ensure they remain exceptionally attractive and valuable to both current and prospective subscribers. The incumbent will also be responsible for defining and championing the TakealotMORE brand and its unique positioning within the market.
Key Responsibilities
The Group Head will be at the forefront of developing and implementing data-driven strategies and marketing campaigns designed to boost the visibility of TakealotMORE. Working collaboratively with BU-level marketing, CRM, and customer insights teams, this individual will ensure effective execution across multiple channels to drive subscription sign-ups, deepen customer engagement, and improve overall retention. A critical aspect of the role involves partnering closely with Product and Engineering teams to continuously enhance the user experience for TakealotMORE members.
Furthermore, the Group Head will assume responsibility for the Profit & Loss (P&L) of the TakealotMORE programme, proactively managing its financial performance and optimising programme economics. This includes overseeing the evolution of the loyalty programme, staying abreast of emerging technologies, and strategically incorporating them into customer segmentation and programme enhancements to maintain a competitive edge. The role demands a proactive approach to identifying and capitalising on opportunities that align with the Group's customer-centric goals and contribute to revenue growth.
What They're Looking For
Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a closely related field, with an MBA or a similar advanced degree being a significant advantage. A minimum of seven to ten years of comprehensive commercial experience is required, demonstrating a strong track record in strategic planning and execution within a business context. Proven experience in presenting to senior management and C-suite executives is essential, highlighting strong communication and influencing skills.
Experience within the technology sector, particularly in building a product or programme from its inception, is highly desirable. A demonstrable history of P&L management and a successful track record of implementing revenue-enhancing programmes are crucial prerequisites for this position. The ability to analyse complex data, translate insights into actionable strategies, and lead cross-functional teams will be key to success in this dynamic role.
In South Africa, leadership roles in loyalty and membership programmes within large e-commerce or retail groups typically command competitive salaries, often reflecting the significant responsibility and strategic impact involved. Takealot, as South Africa's leading online retailer, is known for its commitment to innovation and customer experience, making this a compelling opportunity for a seasoned professional looking to shape the future of loyalty in the digital space. Career progression from such a role can lead to broader commercial leadership positions within the group or even executive roles in customer strategy and marketing.

- 7 - 10 years of commercial experience.
- Experience presenting to senior managers and the C-suite.
