About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing software programmes using Java and related technologies.
  • Translating complex business and functional requirements into detailed technical specifications.
  • Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code that adheres to established programming standards.
  • Implementing and executing comprehensive test plans to ensure software quality and identify defects.
  • Debugging and resolving issues identified during testing or in production environments.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, testers, and other developers, to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Participating in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge with team members.
  • Staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve development practices.
  • Contributing to the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline.

What They're Looking For

Liberty is looking for a candidate with a strong foundation in software engineering principles and a proven track record in Java development. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A first-degree qualification in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Between 5 to 7 years of experience in software engineering technology, with a focus on Java development.
  • Extensive experience in translating business and functional requirements into technical specifications and subsequently developing the necessary programming code.
  • 8 to 10 years of proven experience in modern engineering practices, such as DevOps, Agile methodologies, Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), and automation.
  • Broad experience across multiple IT engineering disciplines, with a demonstrated specialisation in at least one.
  • Familiarity with API engineering, cloud computing, and core systems.
  • An understanding of data engineering principles.
  • Strong behavioural competencies, including:
  • Adopting practical approaches to problem-solving.
  • Articulating information clearly and effectively.
  • A meticulous approach to checking and verifying work.
  • A commitment to developing expertise in relevant technologies.
  • Proficiency in documenting technical information.
  • A willingness and ability to embrace change.
