Job Description
Liberty is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team in Johannesburg as a Business Unit Financial Crimes Compliance Onboarding Partner. This role is central to ensuring a seamless and compliant onboarding process for clients within the financial services sector. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day operations of onboarding teams, with a strong emphasis on delivering an outstanding client experience that upholds the highest operational standards.
About the Role
This position requires a strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail, capable of overseeing and optimising the onboarding function. You will be instrumental in driving efficiency and effectiveness within the operations teams, ensuring that all client onboarding activities align with regulatory requirements and internal policies. The core of this role involves balancing operational excellence with a robust approach to financial crime compliance, making it a critical position within the organisation. You'll be expected to lead by example, fostering a culture of compliance and client-centricity.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this role are diverse and encompass both operational management and compliance oversight. Key duties include:
- Managing the daily operations of client onboarding teams to ensure optimal performance and the delivery of a world-class onboarding experience.
- Implementing and maintaining best practices in client onboarding processes, focusing on efficiency, accuracy, and client satisfaction.
- Ensuring strict adherence to all financial crime compliance regulations, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.
- Overseeing the execution of Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes for all new and existing clients.
- Interpreting complex data related to onboarding and compliance to inform decision-making and drive improvements.
- Resolving conflicts and addressing challenges within the team and with stakeholders to ensure smooth operational flow.
- Collaborating with various departments to streamline the onboarding journey and mitigate compliance risks.
- Staying abreast of evolving regulatory landscapes and implementing necessary changes to policies and procedures.
What They're Looking For
Liberty is looking for a candidate with a significant track record in financial services operations and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess:
- An Advanced Diploma in Business Commerce or a related field.
- Between 5 to 7 years of experience in service management operations within a financial services environment.
- Extensive experience in advanced banking regulatory and compliance matters.
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years in general client services and/or support, with seasoned technical expertise in client onboarding.
- Substantial experience (5-7 years) specifically in Financial Crime Compliance, AML, KYC, Client Onboarding, or Regulatory Compliance.
- Proven experience in performing Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD).
- Strong behavioural competencies, including the ability to effectively interact with people, interpret data, make sound decisions, manage tasks efficiently, and resolve conflicts constructively.
- A positive and proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
In South Africa, roles involving financial crime compliance and client onboarding within established financial institutions often command competitive salaries, reflecting the specialised knowledge and responsibility involved.
