Job Description
Liberty, a prominent financial services group with a significant presence across Africa, is seeking a seasoned Specialist in Film & Video to join their dynamic team in Johannesburg. This role is central to transforming business objectives into compelling visual narratives that resonate with a diverse clientele, ranging from individual customers to large multinational corporations. The company prides itself on fostering growth in Africa and delivering meaningful value to both its clients and the communities it serves, offering a purpose-driven environment for ambitious professionals.
About the Role
The incumbent will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of film and video content creation. This encompasses everything from the initial conceptualisation of ideas and scriptwriting to the final delivery across various platforms. A key aspect of the position involves overseeing the efficient operation of a dedicated production facility, ensuring all associated resources are managed effectively to produce high-quality multimedia content. The aim is to translate strategic business goals into impactful visual stories that engage and inform.
Key Responsibilities
This role demands a comprehensive understanding of video production, from pre-production through to post-production and distribution. Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing innovative concepts for film and video projects, aligning them with overarching business objectives.
- Managing the end-to-end production process, which includes scripting, storyboarding, filming (both in-studio and on-location), and directing talent.
- Overseeing all aspects of post-production, including editing, colour grading, audio enhancement, and the integration of motion graphics.
- Ensuring final content is delivered effectively across multiple channels, meeting specific platform requirements.
- Managing the operational aspects of the production facility, including equipment, scheduling, and maintaining high standards.
- Coordinating with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and production logistics to ensure smooth project execution.
- Adhering to studio standards, processes, and governance frameworks.
- Leading and mentoring junior team members, fostering an environment of creativity and continuous improvement.
What They're Looking For
Ideal candidates will possess a strong educational background, likely a first degree in Design Studies or a related field, coupled with at least seven years of experience in spearheading the creation and delivery of cross-platform multimedia content. A proven track record in leading comprehensive multimedia strategies and executing complex projects is essential.
Key requirements include:
- Demonstrated expertise in the full video production lifecycle, from concept to delivery.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and multiple concurrent shoots.
- Experience in shaping stakeholder direction and presenting creative concepts persuasively.
- Proven leadership capabilities, including experience leading projects, teams, and mentoring junior talent.
- A capacity for innovative, out-of-the-box thinking and delivering high-impact creative work.
- Familiarity with agency or studio environments would be advantageous.
- Competencies in areas such as checking details, establishing rapport, generating ideas, producing output, and teamwork are crucial.
- Technical understanding of analysing and interpreting information, brand architecture, brand management, client journeys, client value propositions, media mix development, and digital media and advertising principles.
This role offers a significant opportunity for a creative professional to contribute to a leading financial institution's communication efforts.
