Job Description
OUTsurance is inviting applications for an exciting internship opportunity within its Motor Assessing department, based in Centurion, Gauteng. This programme is designed to equip motivated individuals with practical, hands-on experience in the dynamic field of motor assessing, providing a solid foundation for a career in the insurance industry. If you are a detail-oriented individual with a strong desire to learn and contribute, this could be the ideal stepping stone you've been seeking.
About the Role
This internship offers a structured, work-based learning experience within OUTsurance's Claims division. The successful candidate will play a supportive role, assisting the Motor Assessing team with their day-to-day activities. It's an excellent chance to gain exposure to the operational aspects of motor claims assessment, understanding the processes and contributing to the team's efficiency. The programme is a 12-month fixed-term agreement, intended to provide valuable work experience rather than permanent employment.
Key Responsibilities
As an intern in the Motor Assessing team, your responsibilities will be diverse and focused on providing essential support. You will be involved in a range of administrative and operational tasks that are crucial for the smooth functioning of the department. This could include:
- Assisting with the processing and management of motor-related claims documentation.
- Supporting assessors in gathering information and preparing reports.
- Maintaining accurate and organised records of assessments and related correspondence.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders to facilitate claim progression.
- Contributing to the team's overall efficiency and service delivery.
- Learning and applying OUTsurance's service standards to all tasks.
What They're Looking For
OUTsurance is seeking a candidate who demonstrates a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to their work. The ideal candidate will possess a strong set of administrative and organisational skills, coupled with excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, is essential.
Beyond technical skills, the internship programme seeks individuals who are self-disciplined, self-motivated, and capable of taking initiative. You should be adept at problem-solving and able to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment. A commitment to taking ownership of tasks and responsibilities is highly valued. A passion for delivering exceptional service and a positive attitude towards working with people are also key attributes.
To be eligible for this INSETA-sponsored internship programme, candidates must meet specific criteria:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be between the ages of 18 and 35.
- Have been unemployed for the last two months.
- Not have previously participated in an INSETA internship programme.
A Matric qualification or equivalent is required. A Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Management, or a related field would be advantageous. Any prior knowledge or experience in automotive repair and maintenance would also be beneficial, though not essential.
OUTsurance places a high value on its "HUMAN" culture, fostering inclusivity and diversity. They actively encourage applications from individuals with disabilities and from designated groups, aiming to create equal opportunities for all.
For South African graduates, internships like this often serve as a critical entry point into the corporate world. While a stipend is provided for the duration of the internship, it's important to note this is not a permanent employment contract. The skills and experience gained can lead to further opportunities within OUTsurance or the broader financial services sector. OUTsurance, as a leading insurer, offers a vibrant environment with ample potential for career growth, supported by comprehensive benefits and a strong emphasis on employee development and well-being.
