Job Description
Are you currently pursuing a qualification in marketing, communications, or business, and seeking a student position that offers practical, real-world marketing experience? Copenhagen Optimization is looking for a motivated and organised Marketing Student Assistant to join their dynamic Brand & Marketing team. This role provides a unique opportunity to witness marketing strategies come to life and contribute to a growing international company.
About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a student to gain invaluable hands-on experience within a dedicated marketing department. You will be immersed in the day-to-day operations of a global company, contributing to various marketing initiatives. The role is remote, offering flexibility for students to balance their studies with professional development. You'll be working with a team that values structure, proactivity, and a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all marketing efforts are executed smoothly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
The Marketing Student Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Brand & Marketing team across a range of essential functions. Your responsibilities will encompass several key areas:
- **Website and Digital Presence:** You'll be instrumental in maintaining the company's online footprint by updating website content, ensuring event and campaign pages are accurate and current, and generally keeping digital information fresh and relevant.
- **Event Support:** A significant part of the role involves providing comprehensive support for conferences and events held globally. This could include assisting with registrations, managing exhibitor portals, preparing necessary materials, coordinating print orders, and keeping track of attendee lists and deadlines.
- **Content and Campaign Assistance:** You will contribute to the successful execution of marketing campaigns by helping to prepare content assets, building landing pages, managing distribution lists, and supporting other critical campaign elements.
- **Marketing Coordination:** Keeping projects and marketing efforts organised will be a core duty. This involves maintaining calendars, managing project pages, ensuring assets are up-to-date, coordinating smaller deliverables, following up on tasks, and generally ensuring that practical operational details are managed without oversight.
- **Creative Support:** You may be asked to assist in adapting or creating simple marketing materials and visual assets. Experience with design tools like Canva or Figma would be advantageous, but is not strictly required.
What They're Looking For
Copenhagen Optimization is seeking an individual who is not only eager to learn but also possesses the organisational skills necessary to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key attributes and skills include:
- **Academic Background:** Currently studying marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
- **Communication Skills:** Confident and articulate in both written and spoken English.
- **Organisation and Structure:** A structured approach to work, with the ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
- **Proactivity and Initiative:** A self-starter who takes initiative and demonstrates a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- **Digital Aptitude:** Comfortable working with various digital tools. While familiarity with platforms like HubSpot, Notion, Dropbox, and LinkedIn is a bonus, a willingness to learn these tools is essential.
- **Enthusiasm for Marketing:** A genuine interest in marketing and a desire to gain broad experience across different marketing disciplines.
For students in South Africa, roles like this often provide a foundational understanding of B2B marketing within a tech-focused industry. While salaries for student positions can vary greatly, they typically aim to provide valuable experience and a modest stipend rather than a full professional wage. Employers in this sector often range from specialised software companies to larger international corporations with a presence or interest in the African market. The career path from such a role can lead into various marketing specialisations, including digital marketing, content creation, campaign management, or event coordination, often with opportunities for further development and responsibility within the company or the broader industry.
Requirements
- Communicate confidently in English, both written and spoken.
- Work in a structured way and keep track of tasks and deadlines.
- Take initiative and care about the quality of what you deliver.
- Are comfortable working with digital tools. We use HubSpot, Notion, Dropbox and LinkedIn, but you don't need to know them all already.
- Are interested in marketing and keen to learn across different disciplines.
