About the Role
The Business Manager will be instrumental in steering the Queenstown operation towards achieving its business objectives. This involves a multi-faceted approach to management, encompassing the meticulous oversight of results, resources, and risks, all within the established framework of the area's business plan. Beyond operational management, the incumbent will also play a crucial role in the broader leadership of the geographical region, contributing as a member of the Management Committee (MANCO). This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Old Mutual in Queenstown and to contribute to its ongoing narrative across Africa.
Key Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of this Business Manager position revolve around optimising sales performance and fostering a high-achieving team environment. Key duties include:
- **Sales Process Management:** Ensuring the consistent and effective application of Old Mutual's prescribed sales processes across the team.
- **Business Operations:** Overseeing and managing existing business processes, which include crucial areas such as conservation of policies, addressing outstanding business, financing arrangements, administrative efficiency, and exceptional client care.
- **Advisor Engagement:** Interacting with a dynamic and demanding group of financial advisors, providing guidance and support.
- **Coaching and Development:** Actively coaching and developing the financial advisors within the team to enhance their skills, performance, and career progression.
- **Team Building:** Proactively building and sustaining a productive, motivated, and high-performing team.
- **Recruitment and Pipeline Management:**
- Assisting in the recruitment of quality, established advisors into the General Practice.
- Recruiting into the ACA (Appointed Representative / Associate) team to ensure a continuous pipeline of graduate advisors.
- **Marketing Strategy:** Developing and implementing a local marketing plan to support business growth and advisor activities.
What They're Looking For
To be successful in this role, candidates will need a robust blend of experience, qualifications, and competencies. The essential requirements include:
- **Education and Compliance:**
- Matriculation certificate or equivalent qualification.
- FAIS compliance, evidenced by a certificate in Financial Planning or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 120 relevant credits at NQF Level 5.
- Successful completion of the RE 5 Level 1 examination.
- **Experience:**
- Previous experience in a Sales Managerial capacity is highly preferred.
- Ideally, candidates will have at least 24 months of service as a Financial Advisor, demonstrating a foundational understanding of the advisory role.
- Accreditation on all products distributed by PFA (Personal Finance Africa), as well as on other optional products, is necessary.

Requirements
Qualifications and Experience required
- Matric or equivalent
- Must be FAIS compliant with a certificate in Financial Planning or an equivalent qualification with 120 relevant credits at a minimum NQF level 5.
- Must have passed RE 5 level 1.
- Previous experience as a Sales Manager is preferable.
- Be accredited on all products that PFA distributes as well as accreditation on other optional products.
- Preferably 24 month’s service as a Financial Advisor.
- Have strong administrative capabilities
- Should be comfortable in applying the sales process
