Job Description
Liberty is seeking an experienced Senior Assessor to join their team in Roodepoort, Gauteng. This pivotal role focuses on the assessment of complex building claims, ensuring that validations, quantifications, and system and risk analyses are conducted with precision. The ultimate goal is to facilitate sound, equitable, and prompt claim decisions within the building claims division.
About the Role
The Senior Assessor will play a crucial part in managing the intricacies of building claims. This involves delving into complex cases to thoroughly evaluate them. Your expertise will be instrumental in validating the information presented, quantifying the scope of damages or required work, and performing detailed system and risk assessments. This comprehensive approach is vital for supporting accurate and fair claim resolutions, directly impacting client satisfaction and the company's operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will encompass a range of critical assessment functions. You will be tasked with:
- Validating the details of complex building claims to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Quantifying the extent of losses or the scope of required repairs and improvements.
- Conducting thorough system and risk assessments to identify potential issues and exposures.
- Documenting all findings and assessments in a clear, concise, and reliable manner.
- Interpreting data and technical information to support informed decision-making.
- Producing accurate and valid property assessments that meet industry standards.
- Contributing to the development of expertise within the claims assessment team.
What They're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will need a strong foundation in short-term insurance and property assessment. Essential qualifications include a Matriculation or Grade 12 certificate, along with a Diploma and a qualification in Short-Term Insurance (NQF Level 5). While not mandatory, qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction, or Physical Planning would be advantageous.
In terms of experience, candidates should possess:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically as a Building Desktop Assessor.
- 3-4 years of experience within the Short-Term Insurance industry.
- 3-4 years of experience inspecting buildings to ensure compliance with specifications and building regulations.
- Demonstrable experience in mitigating financial risks associated with property assessments.
- 5-7 years of proven ability to produce accurate, valid, and reliable property assessments.
- Experience in property assessment, real estate valuation, or a related field within the banking or financial services sector is highly valued.
Key behavioural competencies sought include the ability to develop expertise, meticulously document facts, critically examine information, interpret data effectively, and produce high-quality output.
