Job Description

This 18-month, fixed-term internship offers a significant opportunity for a recent graduate to gain practical experience within the finance operations team of a leading South African insurer. If you have a strong interest in finance, a passion for delivering excellent service, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, this role could be the ideal stepping stone in your career.

The internship is structured as a work-based programme designed to equip unemployed graduates with valuable professional experience. Success in this role requires a genuine enthusiasm for interacting with people, even under pressure, and a commitment to meeting tight deadlines.

You will be immersed in the day-to-day activities of the department, contributing to its smooth functioning. This is a learning-focused position, intended to provide a solid foundation for a future career in finance. The company places a high value on its people and its ability to deliver "awesome service," and the intern will be expected to embody these principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • No prior work experience required, making this an excellent entry-level opportunity.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • A proactive approach, demonstrating initiative in taking on tasks.
  • Professional engagement and communication skills.
  • The capacity for methodical planning, organisation, and project management.
  • A high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
  • Adaptability and a positive response to change.
  • The ability to multitask effectively while managing stress.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Willingness to travel locally when required, along with a valid driver’s license.

To qualify for this specific INSETA-supported internship programme, applicants must be South African citizens, between the ages of 18 and 35, unemployed for at least two months, and must not have previously participated in an INSETA internship or learnership.
