Job Description
EverAI is seeking an experienced and innovative Video Editor to join their team, working remotely from anywhere in the world. This role is for a creative professional who is not only adept at traditional video editing but also deeply immersed in the rapidly evolving landscape of generative artificial intelligence. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, a passion for storytelling, and the technical acumen to leverage AI tools to produce high-quality, narrative-driven video content from its inception to the final polished product.
This position requires an individual who can independently manage the entire video production pipeline. This encompasses everything from conceptualising scripts and generating visual assets using AI models to meticulously editing, compositing, and applying graphic design elements. You will be comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where creativity, technical skill, and a proactive approach are highly valued. A strong narrative focus, along with the ability to maintain visual coherence and atmosphere, will be crucial for success.
About the Role
As an AI Cinematic Video Editor, you will be at the forefront of creating compelling visual narratives for EverAI's projects. Your primary objective will be to conceptualise and execute long-form video content, often building upon existing intellectual property and characters within the company. This will involve translating production needs into engaging scripts and then bringing those scripts to life through a combination of AI generation and post-production expertise.
A significant aspect of this role involves managing end-to-end AI video production workflows. You will be responsible for the entire process, from initial ideation and crafting effective prompts for AI models to generating visual sequences, editing them into a cohesive narrative, and performing all necessary post-production tasks. The ability to work with explicit content, particularly for stylised and NSFW visuals, while maintaining a strong focus on storytelling and visual integrity, is a key requirement.
You will be expected to experiment actively with new AI models and tools as they emerge, integrating them into your workflow and sharing your learnings with colleagues. This role demands a blend of creative autonomy and the ability to align with the overall creative direction provided by your Content Lead. Ultimately, you will be instrumental in refining production processes to ensure efficiency, scalability, and consistently high output quality.
Key Responsibilities
The daily responsibilities of an AI Cinematic Video Editor are diverse and technically demanding, revolving around the creation of AI-driven video content. Key duties include:
- **Script Conceptualisation:** Developing scripts that align with production requirements and often centre around established AI characters.
- **AI Video Generation:** Utilising a range of AI video generation platforms and models (such as Kling, Seedance, Happy Horse, and others) to produce high-quality visual sequences. This includes mastering prompt engineering and understanding various generation techniques to achieve desired results.
- **End-to-End Production Management:** Owning and managing the entire video production workflow, from initial concept and asset generation through to final delivery.
- **Editing and Compositing:** Assembling generated footage, editing for narrative flow and pacing, and performing compositing work to integrate different visual elements seamlessly.
- **Post-Production and Polish:** Applying colour correction, motion graphics, and other post-production techniques to ensure a cohesive and professional final product. A strong emphasis will be placed on maintaining character consistency and scene continuity across longer narratives.
- **Technical Experimentation:** Continuously exploring and testing new AI models, tools, and workflows, and integrating your findings into the production pipeline.
- **Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:** Working closely with the Content Lead to ensure creative alignment while maintaining a high degree of personal initiative in technical execution. Sharing insights and best practices with the wider team is also encouraged.
What They're Looking For
To excel in this role, candidates should possess a substantial background in video production, visual effects, or digital art, with a minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience. A strong portfolio showcasing previous work, particularly with AI-driven video content, is essential.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- **AI Tool Proficiency:** Hands-on experience with a variety of cutting-edge AI video generation tools and models.
- **AI Pipeline Understanding:** A solid grasp of AI image and video generation pipelines, including effective prompting strategies, batch processing, techniques for maintaining consistency, and post-processing methods.
- **Traditional Editing Skills:** Competence in industry-standard editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects for final assembly, refinement, and polish.
- **Visual Storytelling Prowess:** A deep understanding of visual storytelling principles, including pacing, cinematic composition, and effective narrative structure.
- **Consistency Management:** The ability to maintain unwavering character and scene continuity within AI-generated sequences, a critical factor for immersive storytelling.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of AI-powered entertainment. In South Africa, specialised video editing roles, particularly those involving emerging technologies, can command competitive salaries, often varying significantly based on experience and the specific technology stack involved. Employers for such positions range from innovative tech startups to established media houses exploring new avenues. For those passionate about the intersection of AI and creativity, this role provides a significant platform for professional growth and skill development in a high-demand field.
