Job Description

This role at FNB in Johannesburg offers a compelling opportunity for an IT Business Analyst to play a pivotal part in the evolution of the bank's product development, specifically focusing on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between business objectives and technological solutions, ensuring that new products and enhancements align perfectly with the bank's strategic goals and operational needs.

About the Role

As an IT Business Analyst, your primary function will be to act as a crucial liaison between various stakeholders, including business units, project teams, and IT. Your deep understanding of FNB's operations, policies, and processes will be leveraged to identify areas for improvement and to conceptualise and recommend solutions that drive significant value. This involves a proactive approach to understanding existing workflows, analysing their effectiveness, and proposing changes that optimise performance and deliver tangible benefits. You will be a key contributor to ensuring that the bank's technological advancements are not just functional, but strategically aligned and highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will encompass a broad range of activities essential to successful product development and system enhancement. This includes:

  • **Process Improvement:** Identifying opportunities to refine existing work processes, making recommendations to enhance efficiency and business value.
  • **Requirements Elicitation and Documentation:** Facilitating workshops and one-on-one discussions to gather, analyse, and document business and functional requirements. This involves clearly articulating needs and translating them into actionable specifications.
  • **Solution Analysis and Design:** Conducting gap analyses to pinpoint the most effective solutions that meet defined requirements. You will collaborate with business stakeholders to establish clear metrics, performance goals, and acceptance criteria for proposed solutions.
  • **Stakeholder Management:** Building and nurturing strong professional relationships with all stakeholders. This involves excellent communication, active listening, providing advice, influencing decisions, and negotiating to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. You'll be responsible for initiating dialogue, managing expectations, and ensuring that stakeholder needs are met.
  • **Project Support:** Working closely with project teams to define solution metrics and acceptance criteria, ensuring that implemented solutions align with business needs.
  • **Testing and Quality Assurance:** Participating actively in testing efforts to verify that the delivered solutions meet all agreed-upon business requirements and functional specifications.
  • **Post-Implementation Review:** Contributing to post-project reviews to assess the success of implementations and identify lessons learned.
  • **Training and Documentation:** Assisting in the creation of system manuals and developing training materials, followed by delivering end-user training where necessary.
  • **Prioritisation:** Collaborating with the Project Manager to prioritise requirements, distinguishing between critical and non-critical items, to define project deliverables and timelines effectively.

What They're Looking For

To excel in this role, you will need a solid foundation in business analysis, ideally complemented by relevant academic qualifications and practical experience. While a minimum of two years of experience as a Business Analyst is advantageous, specific domain knowledge is critical.

Key requirements include:

  • A relevant degree (e.g., B.Com, BSc in Information Systems or Engineering) is beneficial.
  • A Business Analyst Diploma is considered an advantage.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in a Business Analyst capacity is advantageous.
  • **Essential Experience:**

  • Exposure to system testing is required.
