Job Description
About the Role
D2B is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Management Accountant to join their fully remote team. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to contribute to the financial health and strategic decision-making of a company focused on delivering exceptional management accounting and financial analysis services. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, supporting crucial budgeting and forecasting processes, and providing valuable insights to drive business performance.
Key Responsibilities
As a Management Accountant with D2B, your responsibilities will span a critical range of financial functions. You will be tasked with the meticulous preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring all figures are accurate and reflect the current financial position of the organisation. Alongside these regular reports, you will also be responsible for generating comprehensive financial reports and conducting thorough variance analysis, investigating any discrepancies to provide clear explanations.
A significant aspect of this role involves close monitoring and analysis of key cost drivers, particularly labour costs, contractor profitability, and overall client performance. This requires a deep dive into payroll, timesheets, invoicing, and contractor expenses, ensuring these are reconciled accurately and efficiently. You will also contribute to the strategic planning cycles by assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, providing essential data to inform future financial strategies.
Furthermore, your expertise will be vital in analysing various labour-related financial elements, including award rates, overtime, allowances, and labour utilisation trends. You will support the organisation through end-of-month and end-of-year financial closing processes, ensuring all deadlines are met and the financial statements are prepared to a high standard. Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax obligations, and labour hire regulations is paramount, and you will work to maintain these standards. This role also demands close collaboration with operations and recruitment teams to identify opportunities for improving financial performance and streamlining processes. You will be instrumental in preparing client profitability reports and developing key performance indicator (KPI) dashboards. Additionally, you will assist with audit preparation and statutory reporting, as well as proactively identify areas for process improvement and automation within both finance and payroll systems.
What They're Looking For
To excel in this position, candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. A minimum of three years of experience in a management accounting capacity is essential, with a strong preference for candidates who have prior experience within labour hire, recruitment, staffing, construction, healthcare, logistics, or other workforce-heavy industries.
A robust understanding of payroll costing and financial analysis related to workforces is a key requirement. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is non-negotiable, and experience working with both accounting and payroll systems is expected. Desirable, but not essential, qualifications include knowledge of Australian labour hire regulations and awards, as well as experience with ERP systems such as MYOB, Xero, SAP, Oracle, or Pronto. Familiarity with Power BI or experience in financial modelling would also be advantageous.
Beyond technical skills, D2B is looking for individuals with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, coupled with a high degree of attention to detail. A commercial mindset is crucial, allowing you to understand the broader business implications of financial data. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are vital for effective collaboration across departments. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, coupled with strong organisational and time management skills, will ensure success in this remote role.
In South Africa, management accountants are highly valued across various sectors, including manufacturing, retail, finance, and mining.
