About the Role

Liberty, a prominent financial services group, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager for their Accounts team in Cape Town. This role is central to driving sales and ensuring client satisfaction within the commercial short-term insurance sector. The successful candidate will play a pivotal part in nurturing relationships with brokers and financial institutions, while also developing and presenting tailored insurance solutions to a diverse client base. Key Responsibilities

The core responsibilities of this position revolve around actively promoting the company's insurance products and services. You will be instrumental in fostering strong partnerships with brokers and financial institutions, acting as a key liaison to drive sales initiatives. A significant part of your role will involve receiving and meticulously analysing quotation requests from clients and stakeholders. Based on these requirements, you will develop and present comprehensive, packaged solutions that precisely meet the identified needs of each client.

Furthermore, you will be expected to:

  • Actively promote the full spectrum of Liberty's insurance products.
  • Service existing broker relationships and proactively seek new leads.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of client solutions.
  • Stay abreast of market trends and competitor offerings to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and compliance in all dealings.
  • Contribute to the overall sales strategy and growth objectives of the department.

What They're Looking For

To excel in this Manager, Accounts role, candidates will need a solid foundation in commercial short-term insurance, complemented by a strong understanding of financial services legislation and practices. A minimum of five years of relevant experience, either as a broker or within an insurer, is essential. Experience in bancassurance would be highly advantageous.

Key qualifications and experience include:

  • A minimum NQF 5 FAIS Accredited Qualification; a Degree is preferred.
  • RE 05 qualification.
  • Registration as a Financial Services Provider (FSP) Representative, demonstrating competence (Category 1.6) and adherence to FAIS legislation, including honesty, integrity, and financial solvency.
  • Full compliance with FAIS legislation.
  • A minimum of five years of previous working experience in commercial short-term insurance.
  • Sound knowledge of commercial insurance practices, procedures, and products.
  • A thorough understanding of FAIS and FICA legislation.
  • Proven sales and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

In South Africa, a role like this, particularly within a major financial institution like Liberty, often commands a competitive salary, typically ranging from R400,000 to R700,000 per annum, depending on experience and the specifics of the role's responsibilities. Major banks, insurance companies, and large financial advisory firms are common employers for such positions. Career progression could lead to senior management roles, heading larger divisions, or specialising in specific lines of commercial insurance or business development.

Experience Required:     

Experience as determined by FAIS legislation. A minimum of 5 years previous working inexperience commercial short-term insurance either as a Broker or Insurer. Bancassurance experience advantageous.
Sound knowledge of commercial insurance practices, procedure’s and products.
A good working knowledge of FAIS and FICA legislation.
Sales and negotiation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A minimum of 5 years previous working experience in Short term insurance is preferable to gain practical exposure to banking principles and to establish credible relationships.
