About the Role

As an IT Support Engineer at Takealot Fulfilment Solutions, you will be the first line of defence in ensuring the smooth operation of critical warehouse application systems. Your primary objective will be to provide hands-on technical assistance, diagnosing and resolving issues that could impact daily operations. The responsibilities of the IT Support Engineer are diverse and essential to the functioning of the TFS division:

• **System Support and Troubleshooting:** Provide direct, hands-on support for warehouse application systems. This involves identifying, diagnosing, and resolving software application issues to ensure minimal disruption to warehouse operations.
• **Maintenance and Performance:** Conduct regular checks and essential maintenance on IT applications to guarantee their stability and optimal performance.
• **User Training and Guidance:** Develop and deliver training sessions for warehouse staff, enhancing their proficiency and effective utilisation of IT applications. Offer ongoing technical support and clear guidance to users.
• **Process Improvement:** Proactively identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency through technological advancements and process improvements within the warehouse.
• **Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:** Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of systems, incidents, resolutions, and operational procedures. This is crucial for fostering knowledge sharing and supporting continuous learning within the team.
• **Technical Evaluation:** Analyse and evaluate the technical performance and reliability of systems and services against established industry standards, ensuring that customer satisfaction is consistently met.
• **Service Restoration:** Implement and coordinate procedures for technical service restoration and troubleshooting, focusing on identifying, testing, and diagnosing faults in computer systems and peripheral equipment.
• **Standards and Procedures:** Assist in implementing and coordinating operational standards, procedures, and daily activities for the operations group.
• **New Technology Support:** Support the integration and reliable performance of new technologies within the data centre environment.
• **Business Continuity:** Provide valuable input and recommendations regarding business continuity, aiming to improve the resilience and efficiency of supported systems and processes.
• **Requirement Investigation:** Investigate business requirements and propose suitable technical solutions to meet those needs.
• **Availability Management:** Ensure the optimal availability of related systems, such as content production applications, to meet contracted service level agreements for second and third-level support.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in IT support, with practical experience in a dynamic operational environment. A relevant educational background is preferred, complemented by a proven track record in application support. Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and best practices will be highly advantageous, demonstrating an understanding of structured IT service management.

• A National Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent practical experience.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in IT application support.
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in logistics or a warehouse environment.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices.

Additionally, experience with the following would be considered a significant advantage: A+, N+, Active Directory, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Microsoft Infrastructure, and Google Cloud.
