About the Role

As a Software Engineer at Ozow, you will be instrumental in the entire software development lifecycle, from conceptualisation and design through to implementation and ongoing maintenance. You will be part of a collaborative team focused on building and enhancing robust, scalable, and secure payment platforms. • Collaborating closely with diverse, cross-functional teams to translate business needs into high-quality software solutions.
• Writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code, adhering to industry best practices and established coding standards.
• Diagnosing and resolving intricate technical issues, implementing effective and sustainable solutions.
• Contributing to the architectural design of software systems, with a focus on scalability, security, and optimal performance.
• Engaging in rigorous code reviews to uphold code quality and foster a culture of shared knowledge and continuous improvement within the team.
• Actively participating in an Agile development framework, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings.
• Developing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation for software and associated processes.
• Potentially offering guidance and mentorship to junior members of the development team.

What They're Looking For

Ozow is seeking individuals with a solid foundation in software engineering principles and a practical understanding of modern development tools and methodologies. While specific requirements can vary, the ideal candidate will likely possess:

• A minimum of four years of professional experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer.
• An IT Diploma or Degree in a relevant field is generally preferred.
• Proficiency in developing software using .NET 8 and C#, complemented by strong skills in JavaScript, ReactJs, HTML, and CSS. A willingness and ability to work with other programming languages is highly valued.
• In-depth knowledge of relational database technologies such as PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server, including experience with ORM frameworks like Entity Framework or NHibernate.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as Redis, Riak, or MongoDB.
• Proven experience in developing web applications and a strong grasp of web architecture and functionality.
• Demonstrated experience with high-scale applications and an understanding of the techniques and methodologies employed in scaling systems.
• Experience with unit testing and an understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of DevOps principles and their practical application in a development environment is beneficial.
• Prior experience with cloud services, such as AWS or Azure, is preferred.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, alongside CI/CD tools such as TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, or Appveyor, would be a significant asset.
• A genuine commitment to Agile methodologies and a proactive, collaborative approach to teamwork.

• At least 4+ years of work-related experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer
• Ideally have an IT Diploma or Degree
• Ability to develop software in .NET 8 C#, JavaScript, ReactJs, HTML, CSS and other programming languages (polyglots preferred)
• Excellent knowledge of Postgres, Mssql technologies (EF, NHibernate)
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as Redis, Riak, MongoDB, and others.
• Experience developing web applications, with a good understanding of how the web works
• Proven experience in high-scale applications and an understanding of the practices and approaches that are employed in scaling applications beneficial.
• Experience with unit testing, knowledge of applying test-driven development beneficial
• Understanding DevOps principles and how to apply them practically beneficial.
• Experience in cloud services preferred – AWS, Azure.
