IT software Tester

About the Role

This position is central to the development lifecycle, requiring a proactive approach to quality assurance. You will be an integral part of project development teams, contributing to the testing of all necessary system modifications and functionalities. Your responsibilities will encompass a broad range of testing activities, ensuring the robustness and reliability of OUTsurance's digital platforms. This includes:

• **Collaborating within and across project development teams:** Actively participating in discussions and development processes to understand project requirements and potential quality impacts.
• **Testing system modifications and functionality:** Meticulously testing all changes to internal systems and new features being developed.
• **Compiling and presenting test plans:** Developing comprehensive test plans that outline the scope, approach, and resources required for testing. These plans will be presented to the wider testing group for review and feedback.
• **Participating in test plan reviews:** Engaging in constructive discussions to refine and improve testing strategies.
• **Championing quality within development teams:** Acting as a vocal advocate for quality, ensuring it remains a top priority throughout the development process.
• **Promoting new testing technologies and tools:** Researching, advocating for, and facilitating the implementation of innovative tools and techniques to improve testing efficiency and effectiveness.

• **Experience:** A minimum of 24 months of experience in mobile and web testing.
• **Technical Skills:**
• Proficiency in testing applications hosted internally, including web, portal, and mobile devices.
• Strong computer literacy, with a good understanding of various Windows and web-based programmes.
• Experience working within Agile teams, utilising methodologies like Scrum and Kanban.
• Working knowledge of MS SQL.
• Ability to perform REST API testing using tools such as Postman or Swagger (Open API).
• A solid understanding of interpreting application error logs.
• Familiarity with API and mobile application branching strategies.
• **Soft Skills:**

• **Educational Background:** A Matric certificate is required. While not mandatory, an IT Qualification or ongoing IT studies would be beneficial.

Desirable attributes that would further strengthen an application include exposure to test automation frameworks (e.g., Katalon, Selenium, Protractor, Cypress), experience with test case management tools (e.g., TestRail), familiarity with C# and JavaScript, exposure to UiPath, understanding of Cosmos databases, and an ISTQB Qualification.

Minimum requirements:

• Matric
• At least 24 months mobile and web testing experience  
• Strong computer skills with a good knowledge of a variety of different Windows and Web-based programs
• Experience working in agile teams using scrum and Kanban
• Working experience of MS SQL
• Ability to perform REST API testing through either PostMan or Swagger (Open API) interface
• Interpreting application error logs
• Understanding of API and mobile application branching strategies
