About the Role
Liberty, a prominent financial services group, is seeking a skilled Financial Modelling Analyst to join their team in Johannesburg. This is a critical position focused on enhancing the effectiveness of sales remuneration and incentive structures within the long-term insurance division. The core purpose of this role is to leverage sophisticated analytical and financial modelling techniques to provide actionable insights that directly influence sales performance, boost profitability, align with strategic goals, and ultimately improve customer outcomes. You will be instrumental in shaping how sales teams are incentivised, ensuring that the reward systems are both motivating and financially sound.
Key Responsibilities
As a Financial Modelling Analyst, your responsibilities will encompass the entire lifecycle of sales incentive models. You will be tasked with designing new models, optimising existing ones, and establishing robust governance frameworks to ensure their integrity and effectiveness. This involves:
- Developing and maintaining intricate financial models that accurately reflect sales performance, commission structures, and profitability drivers.
- Conducting in-depth analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks within the sales remuneration landscape.
- Providing clear, data-driven insights and recommendations to senior management and relevant stakeholders to inform strategic decision-making.
- Collaborating with various teams, including sales, finance, and actuarial, to gather requirements and ensure models meet business needs.
- Monitoring the performance of implemented incentive programmes and making adjustments as necessary to maintain alignment with business objectives.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to financial modelling and sales compensation.
- Contributing to the overall strategic direction of the long-term insurance sales division through insightful financial analysis.
What They're Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in financial analysis and modelling, coupled with a keen understanding of how incentives drive behaviour. To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification, such as a First Degree, in fields like Finance, Accounting, Quantitative Studies, or Actuarial Science.
- Between 3 to 4 years of demonstrable experience in financial modelling.
- Proven experience in business analytics, including the development and maintenance of complex financial models.
- A solid understanding of statistical and mathematical analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools and methodologies.
- While not essential, experience within the long-term insurance sector would be a significant advantage, providing valuable context for the sales environment.
- Excellent behavioural competencies, including the ability to adopt practical approaches, articulate information clearly, challenge ideas constructively, check details meticulously, embrace change, establish rapport, examine information thoroughly, explore possibilities, impress stakeholders, interact effectively with others, interpret data accurately, manage tasks efficiently, provide insightful recommendations, and work collaboratively within a team.
