Senior Software Engineer

Klardaten is currently expanding its technical team and is seeking one or two seasoned Senior Software Engineers to play a pivotal role in shaping its product ecosystem. About the role

This position is designed for engineers who prefer outcomes over micromanagement. Rather than receiving a stack of granular tickets or detailed specifications, you will be given high-level product goals. You will then be responsible for investigating the problem space, defining the necessary scope, making critical architectural decisions, and executing the development. Because the team is lean, you will be expected to manage the entire lifecycle of your features, including frontend and backend implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.

What you’ll do

The core of your work will involve building robust integrations and automations that connect external software platforms with DATEV. You will be responsible for the health of your code in a production environment, ensuring that automations are reliable and error-free.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Translating high-level product objectives into technical requirements and actionable development plans.
• Developing and maintaining features across the full stack, with a heavy emphasis on TypeScript.
• Building and managing complex integrations, including API connectivity, secure authentication, and database interactions.
• Conducting rigorous testing and deploying code, while remaining responsible for troubleshooting and resolving production issues.
• Operating with high autonomy, proactively identifying and clearing blockers, and communicating status updates effectively to the leadership team.
• Evaluating AI-generated code to ensure it meets production-grade standards.

• **Core Technical Skills:** Extensive production-level experience with TypeScript across both frontend and backend architectures.
• **Integration Expertise:** Practical experience in building reliable APIs, managing databases, and implementing robust error handling for automation workflows.
• **Ownership Mindset:** Demonstrated ability to drive a feature from a loose idea to a finished, deployed product without needing a project manager to define every step.
• **Production Debugging:** Strong competency in identifying, isolating, and fixing issues that arise in live systems.
• **Soft Skills:** Clear, professional written and spoken English is essential for collaborative, remote-first workflows.

While not mandatory, any background in C#/.NET or specific experience with DATEV integration is considered a significant asset. Additionally, proficiency in German is viewed as a helpful bonus for navigating specific technical documentation or client contexts.
