We have an exciting opportunity for Operations Miner. The purpose of this role is to execute all delegated blasting tasks to ensure sufficient floor stock, safe and cost-effective blasting, monitoring of the crew’s outputs on the blast bench, and safe declaration of the pit before and after blasting activities.

• Adhere to all health and safety practices and requirements.
• Maintain good housekeeping to ensure compliance and an environment where team members can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.
• Participate in VFLs, relevant Risk Assessments, and close out Safety Actions.
• Measure drilled holes to determine the accurate quantity of explosives and accessories.
• Charge blasting holes with the prescribed explosives to ensure the required fragmentation.
• Inspect the blasting area after the operation for misfires and unsafe conditions.
• Compile the Blasting report and forward it to the supervisor.
• Observe and enforce any codes of practice and instructions issued by the mine.
• Deploy subordinates effectively and plan their tasks proactively.
• Keep the environment clean and perform cleaning activities beyond the allocated area.
• Assist the supervisor and co-workers according to their level of competence.

• Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical
• Opencast Blasting Certificate (DmRE Approved)
• Valid Kumba Dover Certificate
• SA Drivers Licence
• Legal Liability Certificate (Advantageous)
• Hazchem (Advantageous)
• Competency A (Advantageous)
• 3-5 years of previous mining blasting operational experience.
• Knowledge of mining blasting processes.
• Knowledge of the Mine, Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
• Knowledge of the Explosives Act & Regulations.
